Spam security

I noticed that you're listed as one of the sysops/bureaucrats for this Wiki. I visited for the first time today, hoping to learn about Winamp skin creation, but instead found a wall of link spam, advertising illicit drug sales. It appears that whoever is doing it found that Google and other search engines are scanning the Wiki's User space, so they've created accounts that include names of the wares, i.e., drugs they're peddling, and put links to their sales operation on the User pages. You should consider changing the Wiki setup so Web crawler robots are excluded from the User space entirely — the User pages and the User Talk pages.

You should also consider locking the Wiki down so that unregistered users can't edit at all. Most of the spam pages were set up as User pages, but from the Recent Changes log, it is clear that they've been maintained and updated by one or more anonymous IP users. This shouldn't be much of an inconvenience for serious users, as this Wiki doesn't deal with sensitive subjects where users may need to hide their identities.

I spend quite a bit of time editing at Wikipedia, but I've never seen as much linkspam and trash there, probably because the user community is so large and active: Most vandalism and spam is discovered within minutes of being posted and reverted or blanked. The Winamp Developer Wiki, on the other hand, isn't visited frequently, and the miscreants have had periods of days, even weeks, where they've been able to do their misdeeds undetected and unhindered. —HydrargyrumT @ 06:27, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Editor/page setup

There's something strange going on with this Wiki, making it difficult to use with lower screen resolutions. It appears the page width is hard-coded to 1280 pixels wide, or more. I have my preferences set to an 80x25 editing window, but this seems to be ignored. As a consequence, I need to constantly scroll left and right while reading, making it tedious to use the Wiki pages and the editor. Can you have someone look into it and make it behave a bit more reasonable, i.e., conform to the user's screen width, whatever it happens to be? If it is unreasonable to do it for all users, is there a hidden setting in the user preferences that would allow me to specify a screen width on a per-user or per-session basis? —HydrargyrumT @ 06:46, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Browser Support

Nice work on the Browser Support article! --Culix 06:37, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Template for Navigation Bar

Hey Blo,

I replaced the breadcrumb on the top of all breadcrumb pages (links to: Wiki Main : Skin Developer : Visual Developer : Plug-in Developer : Online Service Developer : SHOUTcast Broadcaster : Articles Page : FAQ : Glossary ) with a template to display the same links. This means that if you want to add another link next time (like you did recently with SHOUTcast Broadcaster you can just edit the template once and all pages will be updated. Hopefully that makes things easier. --Culix 04:14, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

I sent you a message through the wiki's email function. Let me know if you don't get it. --Culix 15:19, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
